Connect your Shopify store
Install the Comet app or add API keys to sync your catalogue.
Connect your Shopify store
Connecting Shopify lets Comet read your catalogue, inventory, and pricing so every Checkout Store stays in sync with your real products. There are two ways to connect.
Option A — Install the Comet Shopify app (recommended)
- In onboarding, choose Shopify, or go to Store settings → Shop System later.
- Click Install Shopify app. You'll be taken to the Comet app listing on the Shopify App Store.
- Review the requested permissions and approve the install. Shopify handles the connection — no API keys to copy.
Option B — Enter API credentials manually
If you'd rather not use the app, you can connect with keys generated in your Shopify admin:
- Admin API access token
- Storefront API access token
- API key and API secret key
- Your store name (
your-brand.myshopify.com)
Paste these into Store settings → Shop System and save.
Reconnecting for new permissions
Occasionally Comet adds a capability that needs a new Shopify scope. When that happens, a Reconnect Shopify banner appears in the dashboard. Click it and approve — it routes through Comet so the connection is refreshed correctly. (Don't reconnect via a raw Shopify URL; use the banner's button.)
What Comet does and doesn't touch
- Reads only: products, variants, collections, inventory, and pricing. Comet treats your catalogue as a live view and never writes back to your store.
- Never processes payments. Checkout stays native to your platform and runs on your existing processor (Stripe or Adyen) — card details never touch Comet.
- Doesn't change your live store. Comet stores run on their own infrastructure (Cloudflare edge) with no effect on your main store's speed or SEO.
